Eight customers at Design-In stage across 33 ECS-DoT-22 opportunities
As at 30 September 2026, Nanoveu reported eight customers at Design-In and three testing on evaluation kits, meaning 11 customers are working hands-on with ECS-DoT-22 silicon out of 33 active customer opportunities. The business development pipeline update was released on 12 October 2026.
ECS-DoT-22 is a 22-nanometer ultra-low-power edge-AI system-on-chip (SoC) developed by Nanoveu’s wholly owned subsidiary, Embedded A.I. Systems Pte Ltd (EMASS). The Design-In and Evaluation groups include multinational technology companies with multi-billion-dollar annual revenues, together with health-wearable brands, an industrial manufacturer and fleet telematics companies. No customers are named.
According to the announcement, the number of customers progressing through these stages is the leading indicator of future chip adoption and sales.
Mark Goranson, CEO of Semiconductor Technologies
“Chips earn revenue one design win at a time, and eight customers have engineering teams working with ECS-DoT-22 on specific product designs right now and three are at the evaluation stage…”

How customers adopt a chip and what ECS-DoT-22 does
What the chip does
Many smart devices, such as rings, earbuds, smart locks and asset trackers, run on small batteries yet are expected to sense and respond at all times. Running artificial intelligence (AI) on a device’s main processor drains the battery quickly.
ECS-DoT-22 sits alongside the main processor and handles the always-on AI work, such as recognising a voice command, a gesture, a movement pattern or an abnormal vibration, at very low power. It wakes the main processor only when something meaningful happens, so device makers can add AI features without compromising battery life.
The path to revenue
Semiconductor revenue follows a set sequence:
- Engage/assess: the customer assesses whether the chip suits its application.
- Evaluate: the customer tests the chip on an evaluation kit.
- Design-In: following favourable testing, the customer designs the chip into a specific product.
- Design win: the product enters production with the chip on its bill of materials, where volume revenue begins.
Each step requires engineering investment from the customer, and the full cycle commonly takes a year or more. Design-In is the stage immediately before a design win, making it the most advanced stage currently populated in the pipeline.
Pipeline breakdown by stage, application and region
EMASS tracks each customer opportunity against defined stages. At 30 September 2026, no opportunity had reached Design Win.
| Stage | Meaning | Customer opportunities |
|---|---|---|
| Engage | Application discovery with the customer’s engineering team | 18 |
| Qualify | Use case and technical fit confirmed | 4 |
| Evaluate | Customer testing ECS-DoT-22 on an EMASS evaluation kit | 3 |
| Design-In | Customer engineering team working with ECS-DoT-22 on a specific product design | 8 |
| Design Win | ECS-DoT-22 on the customer’s production bill of materials | – |
| Total active | 33 |
All 33 opportunities involve battery-powered products that need always-on intelligence. By application:
- Wearables and health (8): health and fitness wearables, wristbands and a medical wearable patch.
- Smart home and security (7): smart locks, smart cameras, a video doorbell and an AI-enabled remote control.
- Computing and consumer devices (7): personal computing, AR glasses, gaming controllers and consumer electronics.
- Industrial, fleet and asset tracking (6): fleet management, asset tracking, industrial air quality, industrial radio and vibration monitoring.
- Hearables and audio (5): earbuds, hearing aids, communication headsets and audio AI.
By region, 20 opportunities are in North America, 12 in Asia-Pacific and one in Europe. The pipeline is generated by EMASS’ direct sales team, supported by manufacturer sales representatives in North America, Europe and China, and distribution partners in Europe and Asia.
Scott Smyser, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, EMASS
“Every opportunity in this pipeline shares the same need: a battery-powered product that has to stay aware without draining its battery…”
Next milestone: converting Design-In to design wins
EMASS’ priority over the coming quarters is converting Design-In opportunities into design wins. It is working with each Design-In customer to align ECS-DoT-22 supply with that customer’s product development and launch schedule.
Customers are supported with evaluation kits, reference designs and direct application engineering. Recent progress includes:
- A new batch of evaluation boards manufactured for customer engagements.
- Further reference designs in development with ecosystem partners, building on the asset-tracking design announced with Bosch Sensortec.
- Technical verification underway ahead of mass production, the step that enables volume supply.
Recent ECS-DoT milestones include the Bosch Sensortec asset-tracking reference design (23 July 2026), a granted US patent covering ECS-DoT object-detection circuitry (1 September 2026) and a Best in Show award in the AI & Machine Learning category from Embedded Computing Design at CES and Embedded World 2026.
The Bosch Sensortec reference design pairs five Bosch sensors with ECS-DoT inference for event-driven tracking across logistics and cold-chain uses, and it is available for customer evaluation now, though no revenue or order value has been disclosed.
The outlook carries clear limits. None of the reported opportunities is a binding supply agreement, purchase order or revenue commitment, and each may advance, stall or fall away at any stage. The pipeline is a management measure of commercial activity and is not a forecast of revenue, while timing rests on the customer’s own product decisions.
