Australian Food leads with 6.9% growth
Woolworths Food Retail performance
Woolworths Food Retail sales rose 6.9% (7.0% ex Tobacco) to $14,680m. Comparable sales increased 6.1%, with comparable item growth of 4.0% and comparable transactions growth of 3.0%.
Management said sales growth early in the quarter benefitted from the Disney Ooshies collectibles campaign, but growth remained strong throughout the quarter.
The Ooshies lift also featured in the FY2026 full year results, where management flagged the campaign as a contributor to early FY27 Australian Food growth, alongside supply chain benefits not expected until FY2028.
By category, Fresh sales increased 8.1% and Long Life sales rose 5.9%. Own and exclusive brand sales grew 8.5%, and 151 new own brand products were launched.
Value and pricing
Average prices (ex Tobacco) declined 0.7%, the eleventh consecutive quarter of lower average prices. The Lower Shelf Price range now includes over 1,000 products.
For investors, the pattern is growth driven by item volumes while average prices fall.
WooliesX and Everyday Rewards
eComX sales increased 20.2% to $2,665m, with penetration reaching 18.2%, up 2 pts on the prior year. 48% of delivery orders were fulfilled within two hours.
Everyday Rewards active members rose 3.7% to 10.9 million. Average weekly traffic to Group digital platforms was 33.5 million, up 14.2%.
How eCommerce and On Demand are reshaping grocery
On Demand refers to fast fulfilment of online orders. At the end of the quarter, 703 stores offered Direct to Boot Now (a sub-60 minute service where a team member places the order in the customer’s boot) and Delivery Now was available from 776 stores.
eCommerce penetration is the share of sales made online. It rose to 18.2% from 16.2% a year earlier, and the proportion of delivery orders fulfilled within two hours rose 5 pts to 48%.
Two terms recur in the report. Comparable sales measures sales excluding stores opened or closed in the last 12 months, and stores with a demonstrable impact from disruption such as refurbishment. VOC NPS is a Net Promoter Score based on feedback from a sample of customers, calculated as promoters (score of nine or 10) less detractors (score of six or below).
Digital enhancements during the quarter included the launch of Olive as a personalised agentic shopping agent, and the new Smart Basket feature.
New Zealand Food, B2B and W Living: a mixed picture
New Zealand Food
New Zealand Food sales rose 2.9% to NZ$2,251m. In Australian dollars, sales were A$1,853m, down 6.4%.
Sales also benefitted from Ooshies early in the quarter, and growth moderated after the campaign ended, reflecting a weakening macro environment and a highly competitive market. VOC NPS was 40, and average prices decreased 0.6%.
Australian B2B
Australian B2B sales increased 4.4% to $1,634m. PFD sales rose 3.9%, with growth in the QSR channel remaining the highlight.
PC+ delivered double-digit revenue growth. Management noted Food Service sales are seeing some impact from increased cost-of-living pressure.
W Living
W Living sales declined 0.7% to $1,380m, or increased 0.3% excluding MyDeal. BIG W sales fell 0.9% to $1,127m, with comparable sales down 1.3% and eCommerce GTV up 7.7%.
Petstock sales rose 6.1% to $253m, with comparable sales up 4.3% and eCommerce growth of 24.7%.
What happens next for Woolworths Group
Management said October to date sales growth in Australian Food (Woolworths Food Retail) is broadly in line with Q1 post Ooshies trading. The company is focused on the Christmas and holiday period, including a range of over 500 budget-conscious festive products.
In Australian B2B, new Key Accounts customers are coming on board in Q2.
Woolworths Group will host an Investor Day on Wednesday, 18 November 2026, commencing at 9:00 am (AEDT) following the release of presentation materials to the ASX. The event will be webcast and accessible via registration on the Group’s website.
