Noodlecake secures Monkey Brain publishing deal as Flick Shot Rogues heads to mobile
Streamplay Studio (ASX: SP8) has confirmed that its wholly owned subsidiary, Noodlecake Studios, has signed a publishing agreement for a new title called Monkey Brain, while its existing title Flick Shot Rogues has opened for mobile pre-order and pre-registration.
Both projects come from German independent studio Butter By The Fish, the same team behind Flick Shot Rogues. The agreement extends an existing relationship that began with the 2025 PC launch of that earlier title.
Monkey Brain is a physics-based roguelike currently in development for PC, with a targeted CY2026 release. Flick Shot Rogues is now heading to iOS and Android, with a mobile launch targeted for 16 September 2026.

What was announced
The update covers two related developments. First, Noodlecake has signed a publishing agreement for Monkey Brain, a new original title from Butter By The Fish. Second, Flick Shot Rogues has expanded to mobile, with pre-order live on the Apple App Store and pre-registration open on Google Play.
Monkey Brain is described as a shorter-cycle project that complements Noodlecake’s larger premium PC and console publishing titles. Its production cycle is comparatively focused, sitting alongside more substantial multi-year programs.
The title fits within a broader run of recently announced agreements, including Tiebreakers (ASX: 4 June 2026) and Project DS (ASX: 16 June 2026), both of which involve larger-scale development across PC and console platforms.
Monkey Brain’s Steam storefront page and first wishlist trailer are now live ahead of its targeted release.
| Title | Platform | Status | Target Release |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monkey Brain | PC | In development, Steam wishlist live | CY2026 |
| Flick Shot Rogues (mobile) | iOS / Android | Pre-order / pre-registration open | 16 September 2026 |
Inside Monkey Brain
Monkey Brain combines physics-driven gameplay with roguelike progression systems. Players launch “Thoughts” through a monkey’s brain, bouncing them between Brain Cells to build increasingly powerful combinations, collecting and upgrading Thoughts and Items throughout each run.
The design centres on compact gameplay sessions and a broad range of combinations, upgrades and playable characters. Progression is built around repeated runs and experimentation, encouraging players to refine strategies over time.
Development has been structured around a comparatively short production cycle. The title is currently in development for PC, with release targeted before the end of CY2026, subject to development progress and final release scheduling.
Flick Shot Rogues arrives on mobile
The mobile version of Flick Shot Rogues retains the core systems of the original PC release, adapted for touchscreen gameplay. It will adopt a “try-before-you-buy model”, allowing players to access the opening portion of the game before unlocking the full title through a one-time in-app purchase.
The move expands the title beyond PC across additional storefronts as part of Noodlecake’s broader cross-platform publishing strategy. Release is targeted for iOS and Android on 16 September 2026.
The Winter Burrow mobile expansion follows the same cross-platform logic, with that title crossing A$5.7 million in cumulative gross revenue on Steam, Xbox and Nintendo Switch before its own Apple App Store and Google Play launch targeted for 30 September 2026.
How Noodlecake’s publishing model works
The agreement is structured under Streamplay’s established publishing framework. Under this arrangement, Noodlecake provides agreed development and publishing support and recoups its investment and associated costs before transitioning to ongoing revenue participation with Butter By The Fish.
This recoupment-first structure helps de-risk Noodlecake’s investment while retaining exposure to the title’s longer-term commercial performance.
CEO Commentary
“We had a great experience working with Butter By The Fish on Flick Shot Rogues, so getting the chance to work together again was an easy one for us. Monkey Brain is weird, fun and immediately makes sense when you see it in action. Excited to see where the team takes it.”
— Ryan Holowaty, CEO of Noodlecake
What it means for Streamplay investors
The two developments add to Streamplay’s broader publishing pipeline, which now spans a mix of shorter-cycle and larger multi-year projects. Monkey Brain sits alongside the more substantial Tiebreakers and Project DS programs, giving the group a spread of development timelines.
Noodlecake brings established scale to that pipeline as a North America-based, award-winning indie studio with a long publishing track record.
The Project DS agreement is milestone-based, with a vertical slice delivery targeted through CY2026 and a full commercial launch set for 2027, giving the larger end of Noodlecake’s pipeline a structured sequence of development checkpoints distinct from the shorter-cycle titles.
- Over 60 published titles
- More than 270 million downloads worldwide
- North America-based, award-winning indie studio
- Operations spanning game development, publishing, esports, streaming and telco-aligned services
While the Company believes the agreement has the capability to deliver material revenue, supported by Noodlecake’s established relationship with the development team and the project’s focused production scope, revenue outcomes cannot be reliably estimated at this stage. Outcomes will depend on factors including development progress, release timing, platform performance, pricing, user uptake and any future distribution arrangements.
Any material financial contribution will be reflected in Streamplay’s ordinary financial reporting as applicable.
