Rio Tinto: four-year marine infrastructure maintenance
Monadelphous has secured a four-year contract to continue providing maintenance services and minor projects on Rio Tinto’s marine infrastructure. The work is at the Dampier and Cape Lambert Ports in Western Australia.
BHP: Ministers North Project
The company has also been awarded a contract with BHP associated with the Ministers North Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The work includes the establishment and maintenance of temporary non-process infrastructure facilities and associated services, and is expected to be completed by mid-2028.
Whitehaven Coal: shutdown services
Monadelphous has secured a three-year contract, with a two-year extension option, to continue providing shutdown services across Whitehaven Coal’s mine sites in Queensland and New South Wales. The extension is an option only.
What shutdown and maintenance contracts mean for investors
Maintenance services keep existing equipment and facilities running. Shutdown services cover planned pauses in operations, when a site stops production so maintenance can be carried out.
Temporary non-process infrastructure refers to support facilities that sit alongside a project but are not part of the production process itself.
Where a contractor is asked to continue providing services, it often points to client retention. Multi-year maintenance and shutdown contracts can also support work visibility, meaning a clearer view of upcoming activity. Monadelphous’s Maintenance and Industrial Services division specialises in this kind of work.
Readers interested in how panel arrangements add multi-year visibility can see our detailed coverage of Monadelphous’s $120 million contract round, which covers a five-year Rio Tinto crane and lifting panel and a third Fortescue battery storage project.
Client retention was also visible in April, when BHP at Olympic Dam and Queensland Alumina each granted two-year maintenance extensions as part of a roughly $145 million round of awards.
