A$3.1m repeat order lifts Janus Electric’s North American book to 124 trucks
California-based King Fio Trucking has placed a repeat order with Janus Electric Holdings (ASX: JNS) worth A$3.1m (US$2.18m) for six additional Class 8 electric truck conversions and six JBS-650 swappable battery sets. The order is conditional upon approval of the applicable California incentives.
The order increases King Fio’s total commitment to 12 trucks and 14 battery sets. It also lifts the Janus North American order book to 124 trucks, with a combined gross NA contract value of ~A$64.6m.
A repeat order from an existing customer offers a validation signal for the company’s electric truck conversions model. The announcement was released on 27 October 2026.
Ben Hutt, Managing Director and CEO
“King Fio’s decision to double its order is another strong endorsement from our existing customers of our technology and demonstrates continued demand for our electric truck conversion and battery-swapping solution…”

Why the King Fio order matters for Janus Electric’s model
Expansion without duplicate infrastructure
The six additional trucks will use the charging and battery-swapping infrastructure included in King Fio’s original order. That comprises one Janus Charge and Change Station (JCCS) with two 250 kW chargers, avoiding the need for an additional charging station.
For fleet operators, this means capacity can grow without duplicating charging facilities, which supports the scalability argument for the model.

Recurring subscription revenue
The additional vehicles are expected to generate recurring subscription revenue for Janus as they are delivered.
Who King Fio is
King Fio Trucking is a transport and logistics company with the following profile:
- Headquartered in Long Beach, California
- Provides local and long-distance container drayage, transloading and warehousing services
- Operates a fleet of approximately 30 trucks and services 30 terminals
- Operates container transport services associated with the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach
The additional order will be fulfilled by Janus’ US conversion partner, Electric Vehicle Choice (EVC), in Santa Fe Springs, California.
Conversion explained: how diesel-to-electric repowering unlocks incentives
Janus converts Class 6-8 heavy diesel trucks to electric. Operators retain and repower their existing trucks rather than buying new ones, which creates opportunities to access incentive programs that support vehicle repowering as well as broader zero-emission vehicle initiatives.
The integrated solution has three components:
- Janus Conversion Module (JCM): the conversion element
- Swappable battery systems: modular batteries used with the conversion platform
- Janus Charge & Change Station (JCCS): the charging and battery-swapping station
Janus says the solution delivers near-zero downtime and total cost of ownership savings.
Several California and regional vehicle electrification incentive programs are expected to benefit the additional King Fio order. Together, these programs could provide King Fio with US$1.6m in funding for the six additional trucks, subject to eligibility, funding availability and approval.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Order value | A$3.1m (US$2.18m), conditional upon approval of the applicable California incentives |
| Incentive potential | Could provide US$1.6m, subject to eligibility, funding availability and approval |
| Infrastructure reuse | One JCCS with two 250 kW chargers from the original order |
| Revenue type | Recurring subscription revenue expected as vehicles are delivered |
Janus is also assessing further conversion-eligible programs in Washington State and Canada, including Canada’s Federal Green Freight Program. New drayage programs announced by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could support entry to the US East Coast market.
What happens next for Janus Electric’s US rollout
The announcement sets out the following milestones:
- Janus expects to deliver 18 operational trucks in LA before 31 December, including the first six King Fio trucks, four for Ability Tri-Modal and six for Tradelink.
- Following those deliveries, the operational vehicle total is expected to reach 46 across the US and Australia.
- Janus is working closely with key supply chain partners to put in place the facilities to convert the previously announced North American order book by early Q4 FY2027.
- The additional King Fio order is conditional upon approval of the applicable California incentives.
Order book growth to 124 trucks, potential incentive support and the near-term delivery milestones together frame the next phase of Janus’ US rollout.
