EOS Completes MARSS Buy to Field Proven Counter-Drone Tech in the Middle East
EOS completes MARSS acquisition, adding active counter-drone capability
Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (ASX: EOS) has confirmed the acquisition of the MARSS business is now complete, with the transaction finalised on 21 May 2026 following the MARSS Business and Transaction Update announced on 15 May 2026. The acquisition expands EOS into software-led counter-drone and critical infrastructure protection, with the MARSS NiDAR Counter-Drone Command and Control platform already deployed and actively protecting critical assets in the Middle East.

What EOS looks like after the acquisition
EOS now operates across two divisions: Defence Systems and Space Systems. The structure below reflects the company’s combined capabilities following the MARSS integration.
Defence Systems:
- Remote weapon systems, vehicle turrets, and high-energy laser weapons (directed energy)
- Counter-UAS and C2/C4 systems for land warfare
- MARSS NiDAR platform for counter-drone command and control and critical infrastructure protection
Space Systems:
- Optical sensors and effectors to detect, track, and characterise objects in space
- Space control capabilities
| Division | Core Focus | Key Products / Capabilities | Strategic Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Defence Systems | Weapon systems optimisation, ISR, and C4 systems for land warfare | Remote weapon systems, vehicle turrets, high-energy laser weapons, counter-UAS systems, NiDAR Counter-Drone Command and Control platform | Addresses growing demand for counter-drone and critical infrastructure protection solutions |
| Space Systems | Space object detection, tracking, and characterisation | EOS-developed optical sensors and effectors, space control capabilities | Positions EOS in the emerging space domain awareness and control market |
Understanding counter-drone command and control — and why it matters now
A counter-UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) Command and Control platform is a software-driven system designed to detect, track, and neutralise drone threats in real time. These platforms integrate sensors, data processing, and response tools to protect critical infrastructure such as military installations, energy facilities, and government assets from unauthorised or hostile drone activity.
The NiDAR platform’s active deployments in the Middle East are significant for several reasons. First, the region represents one of the world’s most active drone threat environments, where adversarial drone use has become a routine tactic in both military and asymmetric conflict settings. A technology that is operational in that environment is not a prototype or a trial; it is a field-proven system performing under real-world conditions.
For investors, the timing is material. Global defence spending on counter-drone technology has accelerated sharply as drone warfare has moved from a specialist concern to a mainstream military and security challenge. Governments and private operators are actively seeking proven solutions, and the NiDAR platform’s live deployments provide EOS with validated operational credentials at a time when buyers increasingly require demonstrated performance over theoretical capability. The MARSS acquisition places EOS directly within that demand curve.

Two CEOs, one strategic direction
Both the EOS and MARSS leadership teams have addressed the completion publicly, with commentary centred on operational momentum and commercial opportunity.
Dr. Andreas Schwer, CEO & Managing Director, EOS
“We are pleased to have completed the MARSS acquisition – this is a significant addition to EOS’ capability. In recent months, the MARSS NiDAR platform has been protecting critical assets in the Middle East from drone attacks. We welcome the MARSS team to EOS and look forward to working together to secure and execute the commercial opportunities that lie ahead.”
Johannes Pinl, CEO, MARSS
“We are very proud of the MARSS team and the success of the NiDAR Counter-Drone Command and Control platform. With systems and personnel supporting operations across the Middle East, MARSS remains committed to protecting critical sites and advancing our capabilities. We are pleased to become part of EOS and look forward to growing our business together.”
The combined entity is now positioned to pursue commercial opportunities across counter-drone and critical infrastructure protection markets. Critically, that commercial pursuit is backed by live operational proof points already in place, reducing the technology adoption risk that often accompanies earlier-stage defence acquisitions.
