Duratec secures ~$70m in contract wins spanning hydrogen, aviation fuel and marine infrastructure
Duratec Limited (ASX: DUR) has been awarded four contracts with a combined value of approximately $70m, spanning its core Energy, Marine, and Mining & Industrial sectors.
The marquee win is a construction management contract at Orica’s Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub (HVHH), marking the Australian engineering, construction and remediation contractor’s expansion into future energy and fuel infrastructure markets.
The remaining three awards include aviation fuel infrastructure works for Perth Airport, wharf remediation for Fremantle Ports, and structural remediation services for Rio Tinto. Together, the awards demonstrate diversified demand across both established and emerging infrastructure markets.

Breaking down the four contract awards
The four contracts span distinct clients, sectors and delivery timeframes. Importantly, the ~$70m figure is a combined value across all four awards, with individual contract values not disclosed.
| Client | Project | Sector | Duration | Key Scope |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Orica | Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub | Energy | Not disclosed | Construction management |
| Perth Airport (PAPL) via DWJV | Jet Fuel Expansion Program (JFEP) ECI | Energy / Aviation Fuel | ~6 months | Design of fuel farm facilities & hydrant lines |
| Fremantle Ports | Kwinana Bulk Jetty (KBJ) upgrade | Marine | ~30 months | Cathodic protection & concrete repairs |
| Rio Tinto | Gove Structural Integrity Remediation Services | Mining & Industrial | 3-year term (MCSA) | Wharf remediation & structural strengthening |
The Perth Airport award sees Duratec deliver Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) services through its 50:50 Joint Venture with West Coast Civil (DWJV), covering the design of the Jet Fuel Expansion Program.
Additional colour on the timing of the awards:
-
The Perth Airport ECI phase will commence immediately and run for approximately six months.
-
The Kwinana Bulk Jetty project will commence immediately and is expected to run for approximately 30 months.
-
The Gove first work package is scheduled to commence in June 2026, with completion anticipated in late 2026.
Why the Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub matters for Duratec’s growth story
The HVHH contract represents a key step in Duratec’s expansion into future energy and fuel infrastructure markets, positioning the Company to support the broader energy transition and decarbonisation of industrial operations.
The award leverages Duratec’s recent acquisitions in the Hunter Region, which establishes a local workforce, supply chain access and delivery capability in what the Company describes as a critical energy corridor.
The Hunter Region acquisition of Pacific Welding Australia gave Duratec an established local workforce, incumbent contractor credentials at Orica’s Kooragang Island Facility, and specialist certifications that directly underpin the capability now being deployed at the HVHH.
For investors, this local footprint enhances the Group’s ability to self-perform and capture greater value across the project lifecycle.
Chris Oates, Managing Director
“The Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub is an important project within Australia’s emerging hydrogen industry, and we are pleased to partner with Orica to support its delivery. This award reflects Duratec’s ongoing expansion into the energy and decarbonisation sector, building on our recently established presence in the Hunter Region and demonstrating our ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects through a combination of self-perform and local capability.”
Understanding remediation contracting and why these awards matter
Duratec operates as a specialist remediation and structural integrity contractor. In plain terms, this involves assessing, protecting, remediating and refurbishing aging infrastructure such as wharves, jetties and fuel facilities to extend their operational life.
Several of the new awards involve exactly this type of work. The Kwinana Bulk Jetty scope includes cathodic protection (a technique that prevents metal corrosion) and concrete repairs, while the Gove project covers structural strengthening of wharf infrastructure.
The Perth Airport contract involves Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), where a contractor is engaged during the design phase. This early engagement can position a contractor for downstream construction packages later in a project’s lifecycle.
Why does this matter to investors? These awards reflect continued demand for Duratec’s specialist remediation, infrastructure and engineering capabilities across key sectors.
A pipeline of downstream opportunity
Beyond their immediate scope, some of the awards may open the door to further work. Management highlighted that the Perth Airport ECI, while strategically important, may provide access to additional downstream work packages.
These opportunities, however, remain conditional. Duratec has been clear that such packages, if secured, have the potential to deliver broader value across the Group through its subsidiaries and integrated capability offering, but they are not confirmed.
The breadth of the four awards, spanning marine, mining and emerging energy sectors, reinforces the Company’s diversified capability across established and new markets.
Chris Oates, Managing Director
“Together with the additional contract awards across our marine, defence and mining sectors, these projects highlight the breadth of our capabilities and position Duratec to capture further opportunities across both established infrastructure markets and emerging energy markets.”
What comes next
The near-term delivery timeline across the new awards is as follows:
-
Perth Airport ECI — underway now, running approximately six months.
-
Gove first package — commences June 2026, with completion anticipated in late 2026.
-
Kwinana Bulk Jetty — underway now, running approximately 30 months.
With work spread across traditional infrastructure and the energy transition, the four awards reflect continued demand for Duratec’s specialist remediation, infrastructure and engineering capabilities across its core sectors.
The $68 million Darwin Ship Lift subcontract, awarded by the Clough BMD Joint Venture in May 2026, similarly demonstrates Duratec’s ability to compete for large-scale Defence and Marine infrastructure packages, with construction scheduled to commence in June 2026 alongside the Gove first work package.
