First modular units land on site as BauMart’s offsite housing project gets underway
BauMart Holdings (ASX: BMH) has delivered four modular home units to its project site, marking the commencement of its modular housing project under the BuildMart Modular offering.
The units arrived at Fremantle Port at the beginning of June 2026 before being transported to the project location, where they are now positioned for installation and assembly. CEO Commentary
“The delivery of these units to site is a tangible demonstration of the speed and quality that modular construction can offer. We are pleased to be progressing this project under BuildMart Modular in collaboration with our partners, and we look forward to showcasing the strength of this housing solution as the project advances,” said Agata Dharma, Chief Executive Officer.
Understanding modular construction
Modular, or offsite, construction involves the manufacture of dwelling units within a controlled factory environment prior to transport and assembly on site. The completed sections are then delivered to the project location for installation, as demonstrated by the four units now positioned for assembly.
The method is increasingly recognised across the building and construction sector. According to the Company, it offers the ability to deliver high quality outcomes with greater program certainty and reduced on-site construction time when compared with conventional building methods.
For investors, this places BauMart within a broader sector shift toward modern methods of construction. Exposure to this trend supports the Company’s growth narrative as it pursues emerging opportunities in the modular housing segment.
| Attribute | Modular / Offsite Construction | Conventional Building |
|---|---|---|
| Build environment | Controlled factory | On-site |
| Program certainty | Greater | Baseline |
| On-site construction time | Reduced | Longer |
| Quality outcomes | High, factory-controlled | — |
Where BauMart’s modular strategy fits in the bigger picture
The modular housing project sits within a diversified business that spans sourcing, procurement and end-to-end supply chain services, the supply and distribution of building materials, modular and offsite housing solutions, and investment, leasing and related asset-based services.
The Company describes this as a dual capability, combining supply chain delivery with asset investment. ASX listed since June 2015 and headquartered in Perth, BauMart positions modular housing as an emerging opportunity within its broader operations.
