ANZ FY26 profit lifts 31% to $7.59 billion as final dividend holds at 83 cents

In its FY26 results for the year ended 30 September 2026, ANZ Group Holdings recorded cash profit of $7,591 million, up 31%. Statutory profit attributable to shareholders rose 23% to $7,270 million, while statutory operating income was flat at $22,142 million.

The directors proposed a 2026 final dividend of 83 cents per share, partially franked at 80%, carrying New Zealand imputation credits of NZD 14 cents per ordinary share. The total FY26 dividend is 166 cents, the same as FY25. For what each date means, see how to read an ASX dividend announcement.

Cash earnings per share (basic) came in at 252.6 cents, up 30%, and cash return on average equity reached 10.6%, against 8.1% a year earlier.

FY25 carried significant items: staff redundancies, the ASIC settlement, impairments of PT Panin and Cashrewards, and costs tied to the Suncorp Bank migration. The source states there were no significant items in FY26, which accounts for much of the swing in profit and costs.

Where the earnings came from

Costs and divisions

Cash operating expenses fell 14% to $11,074 million, with personnel costs down 8%. Total full-time equivalent staff fell 7% to 39,172.

Cash profit by division was:

  • Australia Retail: $1,708M (FY25: $771M)
  • Business & Private Bank: $1,655M (up 14%)
  • Institutional: $2,427M (down 1%)
  • New Zealand: $1,429M (down 12%)
  • Suncorp Bank: $546M (up 31%)

The divisional reporting changes moved roughly $79.8 billion of home loans out of Australia Retail and into Business & Private Bank, which is why restated FY25 comparatives differ sharply between those two divisions while group earnings stay the same.

Net interest income was flat at $17,894 million, and net interest margin was 1.53%, compared with 1.55% in FY25.

ANZ FY26 Divisional Cash Profit Breakdown

The credit impairment charge was $582 million, up 32%. Non-performing exposures stood at $9,048 million.

Cash profit versus statutory profit

ANZ reports both measures. Cash profit is a non-IFRS measure that excludes non-core items included in statutory profit, such as economic hedging and similar accounting items, and amortisation of intangible assets recognised in a business combination. The net after-tax adjustment between the two in FY26 was $321 million.

Cash profit is not subject to audit by the external auditor. KPMG audited the financial statements in the 2026 Annual Report and issued an unmodified audit report on 6 November 2026.

Balance sheet and capital position

Customer deposits were $814.6 billion, up 9%, while net loans and advances were $861.4 billion, up 4%.

The Level 2 Common Equity Tier 1 ratio was 12.0%, unchanged from 30 September 2025 and down from 12.4% at March 2026. Total risk weighted assets were $485.9 billion. The Liquidity Coverage Ratio was 132% and the Net Stable Funding Ratio was 116%.

The closing share price was $38.31, giving a market capitalisation of $115.5 billion, and total shareholder return for the year was 20.7%. ANZ also acquired the remaining 51% of ANZ Worldline for $28 million, completed on 31 July 2026.

The ANZ Worldline deal was struck at an enterprise value of $89 million on a 51% basis, and ANZ expected only a small capital hit of about 6 basis points, with around 270 staff joining the group.
