Hemp sales climb 12% to $6.41 million as gross profit jumps 41%
Elixinol Wellness (ASX: EXL) grew combined Hemp Foods Australia branded and Australian Primary Hemp bulk hemp sales by 12% to $6.41 million (unaudited) in the nine months to 30 September 2026. Gross profit increased 41% (unaudited) over the same period, according to the company’s 13 October 2026 announcement.
Both comparisons are against the pcp, or prior corresponding period, meaning the same nine months a year earlier. The company attributed the margin improvement to improved economies of scale, sourcing and processing efficiency, following “a period of constrained margins.” No margin percentage was disclosed.
Elixinol’s margin turnaround began earlier in the group’s restructuring, with gross margins expanding from 38% to 42% in Q4 FY25 as SKU rationalisation and a shift toward e-commerce channels cut costs.
Gross profit growing faster than sales points to operating leverage, where a larger share of each extra dollar of revenue flows through to profit.
Key highlights from the announcement:
- Combined branded and bulk hemp sales of $6.41 million, up 12% on pcp
- Gross profit up 41% on pcp
- Full supply of two major grocery programs via trade partners continuing into 2027
- Hemp Gold Protein returns to Costco in Australia and New Zealand in Q4 2026

Two major grocery programs supplied in full into 2027
In 2025, the company supplied one major grocery program in full and shared the other. It now supplies both in full through trade partners, with both contracts continuing into 2027.
The announcement states these recurring orders support processing scale. For investors, recurring orders of this kind may give some visibility over future revenue, although the grocery customers and contract values were not disclosed.
The company said its grocery footprint, branded reach and bulk capability position Elixinol as “the leading Australian hemp foods supplier” and a key beneficiary as the category grows. This is the company’s own positioning.
| 2025 vs 2026 grocery supply | 2025 | 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Grocery program supply | One major program supplied in full, the other shared | Both major programs supplied in full |
| Trade partner channel | Not stated | Both supplied via trade partners |
| Contract runway | Not stated | Both contracts continuing into 2027 |
Hemp Gold Protein returns to Costco as branded range expands
Hemp Gold Protein is expected to return to Costco in Australia and New Zealand in Q4 2026 (October/November). The company described the new ranging as another branded growth opportunity.
Hemp Foods Australia’s seeds remain ranged by Coles and Costco. Gold Protein is also sold through Coles, health retailers and online marketplaces, and Coles moved to a larger 450g format in May.

“Our scale in hemp supply provides a strong foundation for growth in 2027…”
Why hemp is gaining attention as a superfood
The company noted that awareness of hemp as a superfood is growing. Citing Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ, November 2025), it said hemp seeds contain:
- Protein
- Vitamins
- Minerals
- Polyunsaturated fats, particularly omega-3
Selected Hemp Foods Australia products, including organic hulled seeds and Gold Protein, are in their second year of FODMAP Friendly certification. FODMAPs are types of carbohydrates that can trigger digestive symptoms in some people.
IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) affects an estimated one in seven Australian adults, according to Monash University. The company said the certification adds a relevant point of difference for the branded range.
The hemp supply team includes staff with more than a decade of growing, sourcing and processing experience, which the company said has supported consistent supply.
What investors should watch next
Three items stand out from the announcement:
- The expected return of Hemp Gold Protein to Costco in Q4 2026
- Both grocery contracts continuing through 2027
- Whether the margin improvement from scale, sourcing and processing efficiency continues
All figures in the announcement, including the $6.41 million sales result and 41% gross profit growth, are unaudited. The company did not provide guidance or revenue targets in this update.
