Sprintex enters China’s MVR market via Bosiwei co-development deal
Sprintex Limited (ASX: SIX) has executed a formal Co-Development Agreement with Jiangsu Bosiwei Chemical Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd (“Bosiwei”) to co-develop sub-3-tonne Mechanical Vapor Recompression (“MVR”) systems for industrial applications in China. The move extends the Sprintex China MVR compressor platform into Chinese industrial evaporation, aiming to convert partner-led validation into recurring product supply.
The marquee target under the collaboration is an energy-saving MVR system retrofit for Hebei Yufeng Industrial Group (“Yufeng Group”), a major Chinese agricultural and biotechnology enterprise processing up to 8m tonnes of corn annually. For that project, Sprintex will supply its 30kW high-efficiency MVR compressor to replace legacy 110kW Roots blowers.

Inside the deal: roles, technology and the Yufeng benchmark
Under the agreement, Sprintex will manufacture and supply compressors based on its current high-efficiency MVR compressors, providing its 30kW high-efficiency MVR compressor as the core technology component. Bosiwei leads overall system integration, design, piping, PLC software configuration and final site deployment.
The Yufeng retrofit specifically targets the replacement of legacy, energy-intensive 110kW Roots blowers with Sprintex’s 30kW high-speed centrifugal compressor. According to the company, the upgraded system is engineered to lower specific power consumption per tonne of steam recycled, reduce operating expenditure and support Yufeng Group in meeting regional energy efficiency and decarbonisation mandates.
Why does Yufeng matter? Successful validation of the technology in a large-scale operating environment would establish a credible benchmark across China’s agricultural refining, biotechnology and food processing sectors.
| Metric | Legacy System | Sprintex Solution | Investor Takeaway |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compressor power | 110kW Roots blower | 30kW MVR compressor | Dramatically lower power draw |
| Energy vs. thermal evaporation | Baseline | 80%–90% reduction | Core efficiency driver |
| Site operating cost | Baseline | Avg 45% reduction | Lower running costs |
| Carbon emissions | Baseline | Cut >1,000 tonnes/year per install | Strong ESG profile |
| Payback period | N/A | 3–5 years for retrofits | Attractive economics |
Figures for energy reduction, cost savings and payback are drawn from third-party industry research cited in the announcement, not company guidance. Yufeng Group’s scale underlines the significance of a successful benchmark:
-
Major Chinese agricultural and biotechnology enterprise based in Xingtai, Hebei
-
Processes approximately 6–8 million tonnes of corn annually across facilities in Hebei, Henan and Inner Mongolia
-
Produces starches, sweeteners, sugar alcohols and biochemicals, including world-leading Vitamin B12 and Coenzyme Q10 capacities
-
Exports across North America, Europe, Southeast Asia and Oceania
What is MVR technology, and why the market is surging
Mechanical Vapor Recompression recycles latent heat from vapor rather than burning fuel to generate fresh steam. This slashes energy use in industrial evaporation and concentration processes, offering a lower-cost, lower-emission alternative to conventional thermal systems.
For investors, the timing is relevant. Tightening national environmental policy, mandatory Zero Liquid Discharge (“ZLD”) requirements and industrial decarbonisation targets are driving demand across China, and Sprintex is entering the sector through an established local partner rather than building a presence from scratch.
Regulatory-driven equipment orders are emerging as a consistent revenue catalyst across Sprintex’s global pipeline: the A$42.44m Mest Water order book in Europe was directly accelerated by the Dutch RENURE regulation published in June 2026, a structural parallel to the mandatory Zero Liquid Discharge and decarbonisation mandates now driving MVR adoption across China.
The MVR compressor market sits within a rapidly expanding global opportunity. Industry projections cited in the announcement include:
-
Asia-Pacific holds 41%–45% of the global MVR market, with China the largest single market at over 2,600 active industrial installations
-
MVR deployments in food and agricultural processing surging 21% year-on-year
-
The global MVR evaporator market projected to reach US$4.5bn (A$6.38bn) by 2035 at a 7.1% CAGR
-
The MVR compressor segment expanding at an 8.49% CAGR to over US$876m (A$1.24bn) by 2035
-
Bosiwei targeting 500 units per year for sub-3-tonne MVR systems across wastewater, chemical, pharmaceutical and food refining sectors
These figures are sourced from third-party research and represent industry projections, not company forecasts.
The commercial roadmap: from pilot to exclusive supply
The agreement establishes a structured, two-stage commercial model designed to de-risk technical integration before scaling supply:
-
Stage 1 (Co-development & testing): Governs system development, evaluation and site testing for the Yufeng project. Sprintex will supply 30kW compressors for this phase at an agreed pilot price upon specification confirmation.
-
Stage 2 (Binding Supply Agreement & market exclusivity): Upon successful site testing and project acceptance at Yufeng, the parties would execute a separate long-term Supply Agreement setting out recurring volume commitments, commercial pricing, and granting Bosiwei exclusive matching qualification status for sub-3-tonne MVR systems in China.
The agreement includes a 6-month longstop date from execution for project completion and Supply Agreement execution, unless extended by mutual consent.
Intellectual property safeguards are built into the framework:
-
Each party retains full ownership of its Background IP, with Sprintex maintaining exclusive rights to all underlying compressor technology
-
Strict anti-circumvention provisions prohibit Bosiwei from using Sprintex’s confidential information or technical data to qualify alternative third-party compressors
-
Reverse-engineering, decompiling and filing conflicting IP registrations are prohibited anywhere in the world
This two-stage structure is the mechanism intended to convert a single validation project into recurring compressor supply, subject to successful testing and execution of the Supply Agreement.
Why this matters for Sprintex investors
The structure allows Sprintex to focus on supplying its core compressor technology while leveraging Bosiwei’s established engineering, system integration and customer-facing capabilities. This represents a route into the world’s largest MVR market that leverages a local partner’s integration capabilities, consistent with the company’s broader strategy of converting partner-led validation into recurring product orders across multiple markets.
The partner-led validation model is not unique to China: Sprintex’s UK water utility procurement process follows a structurally similar path, where the company advanced through a selection stage with exclusive distributor Air End Repair Ltd before competing for approved supplier status inside the £104 billion 2025-2030 capital investment cycle.
Jay Upton, Managing Director & CEO, Sprintex
“The proposed Yufeng project provides a clearly defined validation opportunity, targeting the replacement of legacy 110kW Roots blowers with our 30kW high-efficiency MVR compressor in a large-scale operating environment. Successful testing would provide an important reference installation for Bosiwei’s broader MVR pipeline and, subject to project acceptance and execution of the long-term Supply Agreement, a pathway to recurring compressor supply.”
What to watch next
The disclosed milestones frame the near-term catalysts for investors to monitor:
-
Specification confirmation and pilot pricing under Stage 1
-
Site testing and project acceptance at Yufeng Group
-
Execution of the long-term Supply Agreement, within the 6-month longstop window unless extended by mutual consent
-
Potential exclusive matching qualification status in China as the scaling catalyst
A successful Yufeng benchmark is intended to unlock broader commercial adoption across China’s agricultural refining, biotechnology and food processing sectors. The announcement does not disclose pilot pricing, unit volumes for the Yufeng deal, contract value or revenue figures, leaving the commercial outcome dependent on successful testing and subsequent agreement execution.
