Ryoncil net revenue up 44% to US$28 million in first fiscal quarter 2026
Mesoblast reported a 44% increase in net revenue from sales of Ryoncil (remestemcel-L-rknd) to US$28 million for the first fiscal quarter 2026, compared with US$19 million in the prior year period. The figures are based on management’s preliminary estimates and remain subject to completion of customary closing and audit procedures.
Net operational cash spend improved by 85% to US$2.3 million, compared with US$14.9 million for the prior year period. Cash stood at US$99 million at 30 September 2026.
The company said September had the highest number of new patient starts per month, following the expected seasonality from summer recess-related treatment scheduling that occurs each July and August.
Rising revenue alongside sharply lower cash spend is relevant to investors because the company described the result as underpinning its cash position.

Management outlook on adoption and capital discipline
Mesoblast Chief Executive Dr. Silviu Itescu framed the company’s plan around deeper use across its existing sites and continued discipline in spending.
Dr. Silviu Itescu, Chief Executive
“We see strong year-on-year increase in net revenues and plan for continued growth by increasing penetration and adoption across the 54 onboarded sites… In parallel, we will continue to show disciplined capital allocation for our commercial manufacturing needs and late-stage clinical programs, in order to maximize shareholder value.”
The announcement does not disclose specific targets, guidance or timelines. The stated plan points to growth from greater penetration and adoption across the 54 onboarded sites, rather than relying only on new site additions.
What Ryoncil is and why its approval matters
Ryoncil is a mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) therapy. MSC therapies use stromal cells, a type of cell that can release anti-inflammatory factors, to help calm damaging inflammation in the body.
Steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGvHD) is a serious immune complication in which patients stop responding to steroids.
Key facts from the announcement:
- Ryoncil (remestemcel-L-rknd) is the first MSC product approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for any indication.
- It is the only FDA-approved product for children under age 12 with SR-aGvHD.
- The label covers pediatric patients 2 months and older.
Being the first approved MSC product, and the only FDA-approved product for this younger patient group, forms the commercial backdrop to the revenue growth reported for the quarter.
Commercial uptake has been supported by 84% real-world survival in the first commercial patient cohort, which tracked closely with clinical trial results and helped validate use in routine transplant care.
Pipeline and intellectual property backdrop
The company’s About Mesoblast section outlines the broader platform:
- Ryoncil is being developed for SR-aGvHD in adults and biologic-resistant inflammatory bowel disease.
- Rexlemestrocel-L is being developed for heart failure and chronic low back pain.
- Commercial partnerships are established in Japan, Europe and China.
- Mesoblast holds over 1,000 granted patents or patent applications, with commercial protection extending through to at least 2044 in all major markets.
In chronic low back pain, rexlemestrocel-L has completed treatment of all 350 patients in its pivotal Phase 3 trial, with top-line results targeted for mid-2027.
