Atomos launches seven Flanders Scientific QD-OLED monitors

Atomos Limited (ASX:AMS) has launched seven professional reference monitors under its Flanders Scientific (FSI) brand, spread across two new ranges: the VP Series (VP270, VP310, VP551, VP651) and the V Series (V270, V310, V550).

The monitors were released to the FSI customer base on 5 November 2026 (US time) and begin shipping from November 2026. The company describes the release as “the largest single product launch in the Company’s history”.

Shipping is under way this month, so the products are in market now rather than on a roadmap. Key facts from the announcement:

  • The monitors use the same QD-OLED panels, colour technology and calibration capability as FSI’s flagship XMP Series, with a more focused feature set suited to different workflows.
  • Pricing is up to 30% below the equivalent XMP model for the VP Series and up to 48% below for the V Series.
  • The seven products are additive to the existing range.

Peter Barber, Managing Director and CEO

“We have created two entirely new product ranges, the VP Series and the V Series, designed specifically to make professional reference monitoring much more affordable, particularly for the post-production market…”

Pricing: up to 48% below the flagship XMP range

The new ranges lower the cost of entry to reference-grade monitoring. The comparison is to the XMP Series model of the same size and peak luminance, in US$ MSRP.

Model Size Peak luminance US$ MSRP XMP equivalent and saving
VP270 26.5″ 1,000 nits $7,995 XMP270 at $11,495; saving $3,500
VP310 31.5″ 1,000 nits $8,995 XMP310 at $12,495; saving $3,500
VP551 55″ 4,000 nits $15,995 XMP551 at $20,995; saving $5,000
VP651 65″ 4,000 nits $17,495 XMP651 at $23,995; saving $6,500
V270 26.5″ 1,000 nits $5,995 XMP270 at $11,495; saving $5,500
V310 31.5″ 1,000 nits $6,995 XMP310 at $12,495; saving $5,500
V550 55″ 2,000 nits $12,495 XMP550 at $19,995; saving $7,500

The VP270 at US$7,995 saves US$3,500 against its XMP equivalent, while the V550 at US$12,495 saves US$7,500. Management says the lower price points make it possible for customers to equip more workstations, more editing suites and more production environments with professional reference monitoring.

What each new range is built for

VP Series for the post house

The VP Series is designed for post houses, where professional inputs and colour accuracy are paramount but users rely on a standalone scope solution. These environments do not require processed monitor outputs or on-monitor Look LUT support. Removing features not typically needed in post allows the units to be offered at up to 30% less than their XMP counterparts.

The series provides:

  • 4x12G-SDI inputs with clean SDI outputs
  • HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs
  • 120Hz refresh and quad input support
  • The core FSI feature set, including GaiaColor AutoCal and GaiaColor Analyzer

The new hardware platform also adds optional stereo 3D support, which the XMP Series did not offer.

V Series for workflows without SDI

The V Series complements FSI’s other QD-OLED solutions for applications that do not require professional SDI connectivity. Equipped with HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs, the units offer the same panels and performance as their XMP counterparts at up to 48% lower cost.

The series suits VFX, animation, game development, editorial and audio post, and colourists working over HDMI or DisplayPort. A facility can run XMP or VP units in its primary grading suites and V Series units in complementary rooms that do not need SDI.

Reference monitoring explained: why a broader range matters

A reference monitor is a screen built to show image colour and brightness accurately, so editors and colourists can judge footage as it is meant to look. Calibration is the process of adjusting a monitor so its output stays true to a set standard. In film and video post-production, those two qualities help keep colour decisions consistent.

Peter Barber noted that, traditionally, the cost of high-end reference monitors has limited how widely they could be deployed across post-production facilities. The new ranges are aimed at that constraint.

The expanded line-up now spans four tiers of QD-OLED monitoring:

  1. V (HDMI and DisplayPort only)
  2. VP (12G-SDI in with clean SDI out)
  3. XMP C (onboard scopes, Look LUTs and Livegrade)
  4. The flagship XMP

The company says this allows customers to select the connectivity and onboard tools that suit their workflow while retaining consistent image quality across the range.

The Four Tiers of QD-OLED Monitoring

Why the launch matters for Atomos investors

The seven products are additive to the existing range. XMP and XMP C remain in full production, and no products are being replaced.

Management reports strong interest from prospective customers who cannot justify the cost of the full-featured XMP models. It describes this as demand additional to, not drawn from, the existing XMP customer base.

Atomos completed the FSI purchase in April 2026 using a new Commonwealth Bank facility, and the same refinancing cut the interest rate on its Monreii facility from 20% to 13%.

Barber also placed the launch in the context of broader investment. “Despite challenging market conditions we have continued to invest in product development and in expanding our offering,” he said, adding that the launch is “a good example of that, particularly as we start to see the benefits of bringing Flanders Scientific into the Atomos group.”

What happens next for the FSI range

The announcement sets out two practical next steps:

  1. Shipping of all seven monitors begins in November 2026.
  2. Full specifications and pricing are available at flandersscientific.com, together with a monitor finder tool to help customers identify the best fit.

Peter Barber and Flanders Scientific Managing Director Bram Desmet also discuss the thinking behind the two new ranges in a short video released with the announcement.
