Open-AudIT 7.0.0 launches with a 30-day Enterprise trial for every download

FirstWave Cloud Technology (ASX: FCT) has released Open-AudIT 7.0.0, a major new version of its AI powered compliance and audit software. The company describes Open-AudIT 7 as a cornerstone of its AI driven compliance strategy.

From this version, every download starts with a 30-day Enterprise licence covering unlimited devices. Much of the release comes directly from customer and partner requests.

The design matters for investors because the new model is intended to give FirstWave a much larger group of users to convert from free to paid licences.

Sharon Hunneybell, FirstWave VP of Products

“The release of Open-AudIT 7 is a big milestone for the company. Much of the product comes directly from what our customers and partners have asked for. With the new licensing model, every organisation that downloads Open-AudIT now experiences the full Enterprise product from day one, and we are gathering better information which helps both us and our users.”

How the new licensing model works

At the end of the trial, users have three options:

  1. Purchase a licence.
  2. Request an extension from FirstWave’s sales team.
  3. Move to the Free edition.

Open-AudIT 7.0.0 New Licensing Flow

Previously, users received the free edition and were invited to activate an Enterprise trial. Existing users upgrading from version 6 also receive the trial licence.

Open-AudIT 7 also captures an email address on activation. Together with full-product exposure from day one, the change gives FirstWave better user information, which the company says helps both it and its users.

Key features of Open-AudIT 7

Credential-free discovery

  • A rebuilt discovery engine uses 61 protocol helpers to identify devices from what each open port reveals.
  • A working inventory exists as soon as a scan completes, before any credentials are entered.
  • It also identifies operational technology (OT) devices such as PLC and SCADA systems, as well as NAS devices and server management controllers.

Mapping and registers

  • Network Dependency Mapping, the Network Routing Map and Application Relationship Mapping show how devices, networks and applications connect.
  • Registers track certificates, domains and vendors with ownership, expiry and renewal dates.

Security and compliance

  • Windows and Active Directory benchmarking against the DISA STIGs joins the existing AI-driven CVE matching and alerting.
  • Four new compliance control sets, CBDDO and BDDK (Türkiye), NCA ECC (Saudi Arabia) and ASD Essentials (Australia), sit alongside ISO 27001.
  • Together the five standards provide 1,304 controls.

What Open-AudIT is and why compliance discovery matters

Open-AudIT discovers, audits and records everything connected to a network. It allows for compliance and vulnerability management driven by AI.

The AI compliance development behind this release was partly supported by CSIRO-backed research funding, which kept FirstWave’s own capital contribution to the project small.

An accurate list of connected devices is the starting point for both tasks, since an organisation cannot check or secure what it has not identified. Credential-free discovery means a working inventory exists as soon as a scan completes, which lowers the barrier to first value.

The new control sets extend Open-AudIT further into regulated sectors, and the discovery additions extend it into industrial and building environments.

User base and pipeline give the model a head start

In its October 2026 investor presentation, FirstWave reported one Open-AudIT download every 7.8 minutes, and that more than 20,000 Open-AudIT organisations had upgraded. Open-AudIT 7 launches under the new licence model flagged in that presentation.

At the time of that presentation, the Open-AudIT sales pipeline stood at A$1.7 million across 39 deals. Pipeline values represent sales opportunities under discussion and are provided for information, separate from any revenue forecast.

Open-AudIT 7 is built as a core part of FirstWave’s compliance suite, with NMIS and the op modules adding real-time monitoring, configuration management and automation.

FirstWave is a global software company formed in 2004, with over 150,000 organisations using its software across 178 countries. Clients include Telmex, Telstra, Claro and NASA.
